We are also proud of our ever-increasing participation in local public events such as the Annual Juneteenth Parade\, Maritime Parade\, and of course\, the Annual North Fork Pride Parade. \nOur monthly First Friday Friends gatherings have become a basic staple in addition to our many annual events such as the Founders Award Dinner\, Oyster Extravaganza\, Breast Cancer support group\, the Pride Golf Outing\, and Labor Day Benefit. Out and About hiking groups\, Game Days\, and MusicPLUS! workshops have been added as well. Stay tuned for the upcoming dates! \nOur outreach and collaborations with our neighboring North Fork organizations continue to expand. This past summer we were able to raise $1\,000 to send local children from underserved communities to summer camp through a combined effort with CAST. We have sent volunteers to assist Promise Land Apiaries with assembling packages of Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. We have supported\, through donations and letter writing\, other community organizations that have experienced harassment and intimidation. \n\nAs we continue to plan for the months ahead\, your support strengthens and helps guide our direction\, enabling us to help those in need within our community and beyond.\n\nWe look forward to the new possibilities on the horizon with our friends at The Butterfly Effect Project. In the United States\, students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBTQ students. Since 1996 the Day of Silence has been held each year on the second Friday of April. It has since expanded into workplaces\, university campuses\, and sporting events. \nTen years ago the Southold Unitarian Church burned to the ground. Along with the building\, the flags that flew with the church also burned — one of them was the Pride flag. \nOn Friday\, April 11 at 5 pm a new Pride flag will be raised in a ceremony with local high schoolers and youth to commemorate the end to their Day of Silence. \nWe would love the North Fork Women community to attend the ceremony and show their support. \nThank you Bernie Hoban for donating the Pride Flag to the church.
