Edna Bennett

1919 – 1991

Edna Bennett, a photographer, writer and naturalist, died on Saturday at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport, L.I. She was 81 years old and lived in Southold, L.I.

She died of cancer, said a friend, Marie Wheeler.

She attended Columbia University and New York University. She also studied at the New York Institute of Photography. She was the author of 10 books on photography, among them “Nature Photography Simplified” (1975). She also wrote a column for The Suffolk Times, “The Wild Harvest,” illustrated with her own photographs.

She is survived by a sister, Grace F. Raymond of East Marion, L.I.; two brothers, Franklin, of East Marion, and William, of Jacksonville, Fla.; a niece, and three nephews.
