SEPTEMBER 2019 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Bernadette Hoban

President Bernadette Hoban

Happy September everyone! I hope you are well and having a nice Summer thus far. I believe there’s still some Summer left so I’m not fully embracing fall just yet.

This past weekend NFWFWF celebrated our 28th Janet T. Swanson Summer Sunset Benefit. This year’s benefit was one of our largest events with over 174 people in attendance. The setting at Founders Landing is perfect for an outdoor event and this year we were bestowed with perfect weather, delicious food, the beautiful music of Treya Lam, the 27 interesting items we auctioned — not to mention the big cash raffle! If you were able to attend, I hope you had a good time and maybe even took home an auction item or one of the five cash prizes!

We were also blessed with many volunteers who came together to help with the multiple moving parts that go into the planning this event. Whether it was working the door, hauling tables and chairs, covering the bar, decorating, silent auction, or parking, our volunteers rocked it! Thanks to all of you who helped with those necessary and important tasks.

The funds we raise from this event allow us to continue providing health and wellness grants to lesbians on the North Fork, as well as providing many women with Lifeline support systems. Knowing that we are helping these women stay in the homes they love, feeling safe and without fear is a good thing.

All the best for a peaceful fall and we look forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming First Friday Friends (FFF) at Paces Dockside in Mattituck on Friday, September 6th at 6 p.m.

Sincerely,

Bernie Hoban
