JANUARY 2023 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dear Friends,

President Eleanor Thomas

President Eleanor Thomas

What a year! Lots of events, collaborations, outings, and funding of grants.

And what a team – so grateful to the North Fork Women community, for the Board’s energy and commitment, the tireless grant committee, and to our advisory committee members who are always ready to help. We advocated for the LGBTQ+ Safer club from Southold High School by decorating a Christmas tree with them in a celebration of connection and healing. This story circled through the town.

Each year we review our strategic goals and see what we did to meet them, or discuss if changes are needed or desired. We are on track with the strategies: outreach, increasing partnerships with expanded community, building repeatable revenue sources, recruiting talented leadership, participating in advocacy, and overarching all — acting as a force for good. We are hitting on each lever, step by step, mile by mile. Perhaps our most significant accomplishment in 2022 was that more grant money was given to our members, close to $53,000, than in any year of our history.

This all comes at a cost, and our community was there, generously giving at every turn. We thank you. The recent Annual appeal raised over $26,000. Wow!

Next week we are hosting a virtual Annual Meeting on Thursday, January 26th from 6 to 7 p.m. Please join us to hear more about our accomplishments, challenges, and plans ahead — and to hear your input. Click here to register for the Annual Meeting so that we can send you Zoom info and the handouts that pertain to the discussion at the meeting.

As always, we appreciate your support and we look forward to seeing you soon.

With gratitude,
