APRIL 2022 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dear Friends,

President Eleanor Thomas

President Eleanor Thomas

I’m happy to report we have had a busy and connecting first quarter at North Fork Women. Most recently was the Lucille Field Goodman Founders Award honoring Lori Cohen. It was held at RGNY Vineyards where we toasted Lori and danced to to DJ Susan ‘Queen’ Levine’s mix — it was a blast. It was heartwarming to see Lucy Goodman’s partner Patsy and their friends, along with Lori’s family, friends, cross fit family, and the broader North Fork community celebrating together. Chris Richards from CJ’s American Grill was also honored for his unfailing support for our organization. It was a collective sigh of relief to be able to get together and have a good time.

We started the year with an Advisory meeting in our back pocket and a brainstorming session in which we surfaced some new ideas in concert with our strategic planning goals. Our concrete outcomes this quarter:

We also issued some grants in the first quarter with thanks to the grants committee for their diligent efforts. If you know someone who may need a grant, please encourage them to send an application which can be found at northforkwomen.org: PLEASE APPLY, DON’T BE SHY.

First Friday Friends are back, live and in-person with the first gathering held at Front Street Station in Greenport, which was a lively and fun event. The May 6th FFF will be at Taps & Corks in Southold. We are currently revving up for the Golf Outing planned for Monday, June 13th at The Woods at Cherry Creek Golf Course in Riverhead. Sign up now for a fun round of golf or for lunch only if you just prefer to root for your favorite golfer!

We are living in difficult times and our hearts go out to those suffering through war and dislocation. We continue to work within our breadth hoping to add to the greater good.

Most sincerely,

Eleanor Thomas
President
