AUGUST 2021 PRESIDENT’S REPORT

I hope you are enjoying these lazy days of summer. I could do with a little less heat, but it is August after all, and our gardens are full of colorful flowers and plenty of vegetables.

Last week, North Fork Women held a First Friday Friends gathering at Greenport Brewing Company in Peconic with over 45 women in attendance. It was our first FFF event since March, 2020 and was a great way to get together with our North Fork Women friends. It was a beautiful evening at the brewery and everyone seemed to have a relaxed and pleasant evening. We are planning another First Friday for October 1st, again at an outside venue. More to come about that soon.

In the meantime, our 30th annual Labor Day Benefit will be held September 4th at 1 p.m. The North Fork Women Board has been working diligently to make the Benefit a total success. We have great auction items, the food, provided by Ellen’s on Front, will be delicious and, of course, the Mudflats will be fiddling and strumming throughout the event.

At the auction, we will hold our annual $10,000 raffle where only 300 raffle tickets will be sold. If you’ve already bought raffle tickets, thank you so very, very much. If you haven’t, there is still time to do it. Please purchase a raffle if you can at northforkwomen.org. You might win the $10,000 first prize and if you don’t win, know that your purchase will help our organization work toward an active and healthy community for our members. We use the raffle proceeds to support North Fork lesbians through grants, HelpHer services and other programs that support our community.

There are still a few entry tickets available for the luncheon, so please join us if you can. I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
